Miklos Gaspar (American, 1885-1946) A Century of Progress International Exhibition, Chicago, Illinois, 1933 Signed and dated "M. Gaspar/1933" l.r., inscribed and stamped "...SHIP... AUTHENTIFICATION GROH [ sic ] ASSOCIATES FOR THE COMMITTEE/Edward T.Grigware/R.F. INGERLE" on the reverse. Oil on board, 21 3/4 x 27 in., framed. Condition: Surface grime, craquelure. N.B. Gaspar studied at the Art Academy and the Industrial Art School of Budapest, Hungary, under Korosfoi Kriesh Aladar and Ujvary Ignacz. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 21, settling in Illinois. He worked as a muralist in Springfield and Chicago, completing forty murals depicting the Century of Progress.
