Pierre-Cesar Honore Pons (French, 1773-1851), circa 1823-1827. A bronze and Sienna marble French Empire Period mantle clock of tall rectangular form raised on a rectangular marble plinth on four bronze block feet and joined by a collar with acanthus and other leaf tips, the clock dial at center with Roman Numerals and banjo hands set behind a domed glass hinged door, the whole surmounted by a figural bronze bust likely depicting Cicero (Roman, 107BC - 43BC), the ancient philosopher, politician, lawyer, orator, and political theorist. Movement with maker's mark "Pons" surrounded by "1823 Medaille d'Argent" above stamped "172". Approximate height 19", width 7.75", depth 4.375".
