John Held, Jr. (American, 1889-1958) Lot of Two Illustrations: Keep Smiling and Photographing the Baby Smiling signed "John Held Jr." l.r., inscribed "The pathos of that admonition to always look like Douglas Fairbanks" l.c. and "...Mag. Sept. 18-" on the reverse; Photographing unsigned, inscribed "Civilisations Progress... By John Held" in top margin and "Liberty Art Dept...Issue Aug 8 1931...Page 21" verso. Ink on illustration board, (sight) sizes to 11 x 14 in. (27.9 x 35.6 cm), framed. Condition: Smiling with toning, taped to beveled mat, Photographing with tape hinged to backing mat, surface abrasions. Masking taped on rt, lt, and top sides to beveled mat verso of Baby. Other not examined out of frame, but there are no other issues to report.
