Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669) The Angel Appearing to the Shepherds, 1634, an 18th century impression (Bartsch/Hollstein, 44 III/III). Signed in the plate. Etching on fine laid paper, image/sheet size 10 1/4 x 8 1/2 in. (26.0 x 21.5 cm), hinged to a supporting sheet, unframed. Condition: Trimmed within the plate mark, annotations and an indistinct stamp on the reverse. The work has probably been cleaned recently. The work is trimmed within the plate mark as noted previously. There is a Japan or similar hinge along the entire right edge on the reverse, as well as old hinges to both left corners.
