Seven Piece Gorham Sterling Presentation Tea and Coffee Service, date marked 1914, comprising teapot, coffeepot, covered sugar, creamer, open sugar, kettle on stand with burner, and serving tray, the vessels paneled urn form, engraved with scroll and foliate cartouches, with angular handles, peaked lids with urn finials, monogrammed G, the teapot engraved to one side with inscription reading, "Presented to Mayor and Mrs. Joseph H. Gainer April 22, 1916, by the City Council of Providence," teapot ht. 6 1/4 , coffeepot ht. 7 1/4, the large handled tray with ogee rim, floral garland engraving, and cut-out handles, engraved to center with presentation inscription reading, "Presented to Mayor and Mrs. Joseph H. Gainer April 22, 1916, by the Heads of the City Departments of Providence," lg. to handles 26 in., approx. 207 troy oz. total. sugar bowl with pinpoint to one rib. minor wear to ivory finial at end of burner handle. Tray with typical light surface scratching. Very minor usage wear overall.
