Mahogany Veneer Stick Barometer, London, early 19th century, broken arch pediment over engraved brass plate inscribed 'Gilbert Lud'g: Street London,' with mahogany veneered trunk and circular domed mahogany cistern cover, (repairs), ht. 42 1/4 in. Note: The barometer was probably made by a descendent of John Gilbert, who made instruments in London in the early to mid-18th century. They operated at Tower Hill and Ludgate Street, both in London. several repairs to veneer on trunk, few losses to edge stringing, repair to crack on cistern cover, cistern cover loose, sliding brass gage loose from upper plate.
