Chippendale Mahogany Carved Tall Clock, Edward Spalding, 1770-85, Providence, Rhode Island, the hood with molded arched cornice and flanking turned finials above a conforming molding and thumbmolded glazed door enclosing a brass and silvered engraved dial, the boss in the arch engraved "Edw Spalding," above the silvered chapter ring, seconds and calendar indicators, and eight-day brass weight-driven movement, all flanked by turned and reeded columns, the waist with thumb-molded shell-carved and blocked tombstone door on molded base, refinished, (restoration), ht. 88 1/4 in. waist door replaced, lacking feet, replaced finials, minor rust on movement, period lead weights and pendulum.
