Schoolgirl Dickinson Family Register, signed "M. Dickinson, Amherst, Aug. 1825," watercolor and ink on paper, bordered with green silk ribbon, depicting a garland of flowers and an eagle with a banner inscribed "Throughout lifes paths the rose and thistle travel," above two columns entwined with acorns and oak leaves, flanking inscriptions of the vital statistics of Major Roswell Dickinson (b. March 20, 1772) and his wife Rachel (nee Hunt b. January 8, 1774) and their seven children, probably done by their daughter Maria (b. March 10, 1808), below the register is an illustration of a house and grounds, 22 x 18 1/2 in., framed. Provenance: This register descended in the family to the current owner. Note: This family may have been related to the family of Emily Dickinson as both families resided in Amherst, Massachusetts.
