Folk Art Scrap Album, Boston, late 19th century, bound in a large wood paneled album painted dark red with gold and silver decoration and inscriptions, the front with "Prose & Poetry," "Art & Science," "Peruse with Care," the spine "Scraps From Historical, Poetical and Humerous Authors/J. T. Geissler," the reverse with "Phun Phicktion for Young & Old;" the album filled with lithograph pictures, poems, articles, comics, notable people and events from various periodicals and advertisements of the day, including a detailed account of a Grand Army parade with over 40,000 veterans in attendance, taking place August 13, 1890, in Boston, Civil War memorabilia, genre scenes, photos of the tea industry in China, floral lithographs, numerous images of men described as the "Oldest" in their profession, and images of marine vessels, ht. 16, wd. 10, dp. 5 1/2 in.
