Cundo Bermúdez (Cuban, b. 1914) Masked Woman Signed and dated "Cundo Bermudez 97" u.l. Gouache on paper/board, sight size 21 1/2 x 14 1/4 in. (54.6 x 36.2 cm), framed. Condition: Minor flaking/losses u.l., not examined out of frame. N.B. Cundo Bermudez was born in Cuba in 1914. He left Havana in the mid-1960s, settling in Puerto Rico until he moved to Miami. His work is inherently Cuban; using flat figures and distorted planes, his colorful images depict aspects of everyday life. Described as vigorously original, Bermudez's art is exhibited in many notable galleries and museums including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
