Thomas Ryan (Irish, b. 1929) Above Dublin /alternatively titled Above Dublin from the Pine Forest Signed and inscribed "THOMAS RYAN, ABOVE DUBLIN Nov 1968" l.r., artist, title, and date inscribed on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 20 x 25 in. (50.8 x 63.5 cm), framed. Condition: Good. N.B.Thomas Ryan studied at the Limerick School of Art and the National College of Art in Dublin with Sean Keating and Maurice MacGonigal. His paintings include portraits, still life, historical scenes and landscapes. He served as President of the Royal Hibernian Academy from 1982-1993. His work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland and has been exhibited in the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art in Dublin.
