Carved Mahogany Folk Art Watch Hutch, America, late 19th century, arched crest watch receptacle with round aperture flanked by two animal figures above a base with two arched recesses, one containing a carved figure of a standing man with one arm resting on a plinth, the other with a figure of a seated woman holding a book, the figures flanking a shield -shaped reserve with carved lettering "EVERY TREE IS KNOWN BY HIS OWN FRUIT," a sliding panel on the reverse opens two two small shelves, (old repair, loss), ht. 6 3/8, wd. 6 3/4, dp.3 1/8 in.
