Engraved South American Metal Icon of Thadeus, early 19th century, possibly silver, rectangular, engraved with figure of Thadeus, with Spanish motto below, 8 1/4 x 6 1/8 in. Note: By repute, formerly the property of Bostonian John H. Blake, former President of the Middlesex and Metropolitan Railroad Companies. Mr. Blake traveled in South America for business pertaining to chemicals and mining, and is believed to have acquired this icon there in 1837.
