Shaker Walnut Lap Desk, Thomas Fisher, (1823-1902), Enfield, Connecticut, c. 1888, hinged slant lid, signed "T. Fisher '88" left of left hinge, opens to a cavity with two compartments, (minor wear), ht. 5 1/8, wd. 19 3/4, dp. 13 1/2 in. Note: Thomas Fisher was known for his carpentry and chairmaking, which incorporated the use of contrasting light and dark woods, and also incorporated the non-traditional Shaker style.
