Hancock, John (1737-1793), Signed Document, July 1, 1781, one page, as Governor of Massachusetts, commission for David Hopkinson as Second Lieutenant in the fourth regiment of militia from Essex county, countersigned by John Avery, (trimmed, not examined out of frame). Together with a manuscript document signed, March 12th, 1779, one page, appointing Hopkinson as a tax collector.
