Vincent DaCosta Smith (American (New York), 1929-2003). "Somali Women in Harar"-circa 1979, hand colored etching on wove paper, artist's proof, inscribed, titled, and signed to lower margin. A simplistic and colorful etching depicting a group of African women clustered to center at front with one walking away holding a basket atop her head, to background a line of camels proceeds before a tall city wall overhung by a crescent moon, the whole with a wash of gold, brown, orange, and green reminiscent of many of the country flags of Africa. Framed approximately 27.75" x 33.75". Sight approximately 15" x 18". Provenance:Spectrum IV Grapgics, New Rochelle, New York; hereby acquired by the private collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia.
