Phillips 195 Willoughby Ave Brooklyn, N.Y. 11205 718-5518 718-4290". Gestural abstract painting with almost loose and organic composition. Framed approximately 35" x 27". Sight approximately 30.25" x 22.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia. Note: Phillips was born in Courtland, Alabama, and a former student of Hayward Oubré at Alabama State College in Montgomery. Phillips was a member of the art department at Grambling College, Louisiana, taught at Fisk University and later in New York City. Phillips' paintings are held in the permanent collections of Paul R. Jones, University of Delaware, and Atlanta University.
