Italian (Venetian), early 18th century (circa 1701). Monumental "Graduale Romanum," (the official liturgical manuscript of the Roman Rite), published by Pauli Balleonii. Printed in red and black ink, with a pictorial title page depicting the double-headed eagle of the Roman Empire, a pigskin cover, and double-hinged closures. Dated in Roman numerals MDCCI, or 1701. Approximate height (when upright) 19.5", width 14.5", depth 4". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
