Serbian, Late 19th/Early 20th century. Hand embroidered oval portrait depicting the Alexander Karadordevic, Prince of Serbia with his wife, Persida Nenadovic, Princess Consort of Serbia, each with lithograph on paper faces, embroidery work surrounding in silk and wool, metallic threads on Alexander's tasseled uniform jacket, small seed beads as pearl strand on Persida's neck. Royal embroidery picture contained in 19th century carved and giltwood frame with crown at top crest flanked by crossed scimitar sword and scepter and laurel leaves with berries, trailing oak and acorn garlands at top, twisted ribbon and beaded borders, drop circular ring at bottom with additional leaved sprigs. Unmarked. Overall approximately 20.5" x 15.25".
