D. J. MILLARD CO CIVIL WAR SWORD WITH SHEATH, 1862, L 43":Made in Clayville N.Y. for the Union army.. D.J. Millard Co. held a contract for 10,000 MI860 Cavalry sabres. A brass handle and sheath. Leather entwined with bronze wire wrap on handle. Initials WEH on steel blade of the inspector , who approved this sword and 1862 date. The Cavalry issued this sabre to both officers and enlisted men. (rev.20070911)
