DUTCH CARVED WALNUT SARCOPHAGUS, LATE 18TH CENTURY, H 27", L 77", D 24":Has hinged top, which raises to storage interior. Raised on trestle-form short bracket feet. Has three recessed panels on front, carved in low relief motif of hunting scenes. On inside of lid are incised roundels, hand chased with scene depicting figures; sides are dovetailed. Purchased by great uncle of consignor: Alfred Schmidtol while he was stationed in Belgium for Libby Owens Ford Glass Co circa 1925.
