BENNO FRIEDRICH TOERMER [GERMAN 1804 - 1859] OIL ON CANVAS LAID DOWN ON BOARD 17" X 14" NOVICE AND S:Signed lower right. Born in Dresden July 4, 1804, died February 6,1859 in Rome. Pupil at Dresden Academy 1819. Traveled to Rome where he settled. Became Legate at the Holy See and later Professor. The Dresden gallery has his painting: "Music Lesson" 1857. Some of his other works: "The Falcon hunter, 1838, "The Sick Nun", "Home Coming Knights", "Nymphs", etc.
