French, first quarter of 19th century. Pair of matching Empire patinated and gilt dore bronze five light candelabra later converted into electrified table lamps. Each with two bypass lamps under pleated cream colored fabric shade above five gilt candle cups supported on scrolled, floral and leaf accents arms on a black tapered and fluted shaft with acanthus leaf tips, floral and beaded banding on a rectangular base with library books on shelves within floral and leaved frame on front, base supported on four bun feet with diaper patterned motif. Switch for on/off on back of bases. Approximate height (to top of round finial) 34.25", diameter of shade 16", base width 5.5", base depth 4.5".
