French School, 19th century. A pair, "Putti at Play", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. A pair of large whimsical paintings depicting putti in a landscape, one work with four winged figures at center resting on the rocky bank of a waterway and building a wooden birdcage as one of them attempts to catch a bird that flies above; the other work depicting four figures in a similar setting but with fishnets and reels trying to catch fish. Each framed approximately 33.5" x 43". Unframed approximately 28.75" x 39.5".
