Manner of Thomas Cole (English/ American/ Hudson River School, 1801-1848). "Lakeside Figure with Dog", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Painting depicts an allegorical male figure in tattered robes reclining in the near foreground with left arm outstretched toward the sky, a campfire and dog to his right, with two large trees flanking the figure before a lake stretching out toward mountains in the background below a cloudy sunset sky. Framed approximately 27 3/8" x 36 1/4", unframed approximately 22 1/2" x 31 3/4".
