MINTONS PATE-SUR-PATE PORCELAIN URN BY LOUIS SOLON, 'PLAY', C. 1885, H 22" OVERALL, W 10 1/4":Classic urn-form flanked by scroll handles with mask terminals, decorated in white slip at the front with Melpomene, the Muse of tragedy, with her attributes about on a dark green ground, signed "L. Solon" lower right (see additional photo), the title "Play" within a scrolled reserve on the reverse; raised on a tripartite base of dark brown with factory mark at the underside (see additional photo).
