FRENCH GILDED STERLING & IVORY TEA & COFFEE SERVICE, BY HENRI GAUTHIER, EARLY 20TH C. , FIVE PIECES:Flamboyant French silver tea and coffee service is covered with a gold wash and is decorated with female masks, acanthus leaves, bellflower garland and cattails. Includes a teapot, a coffee pot, a creamer, a covered sugar bowl and a tray. The teapot, coffee pot and creamer all have a carved ivory handle. All pieces but the tray are stamped with the head of Minerva with a "1" (indicating .925 silver) enclosed within an octagonal form and the maker's mark of Henri Gauthier, with the tray having the head of Minerva and another maker's initials (appears to be SL). Measurements and weights are as follows: creamer, H. 4 5/8", approximately 7.33 trz, covered sugar bowl, H. 6 1/2", W. 5 1/4", approximately 15.40 trz, teapot, H. 7 1/2", approximately 22.73 trz, teapot, H. 8 1/2", 17.71 trz and tray, L. 20 3/8", 48.29 trz.
