THOMAS LINDSEY, DYSART, SCOTLAND, MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK WITH BRASS DIAL, 1785, H 7' 2 1/2":Mahogany long case clock with brass dial. Signed Thos. Lindsey, Dysart. The base stands on an applied molding and features reeded columns the run the length of the front. The corners of the case are canted and reeded. They end in a lambs tongue molding. The waist is long and narrow featuring a nicely shaped waist door and fluted columns, which are inset into the corners of the case. The bonnet is a swan’s neck pediment design with inset blind frets and dental molding. The door is arched, glazed and tomb-stoned shaped. Fully turned and carved bonnet columns ending in brass capitals flank it’s sides. The case exhibits good wood selections throughout it’s construction. The dial is brass which is engraved and is appointed with applied chapter rings and spandrels/. The time and stick movement is brass, eight-day duration.
