GERMAN METAL MOUNTED KNIGHT, 19TH. C., H 17" W 11":Miniature knight in suit of armor mounted on horse with armor. Victorian 19th.c. Articulated steel armor supported by a stuffed cloth and metal armature. Cross and scrolling foliate detailing adorn the armor of both the knight and horse, mounted to a wood plinth. Knight wearing a helmet with vented visor, arm covers, gauntlets, cuffs and hand covers. Breast plate decorated in niello. Horse is also wearing armor beautifully decorated in niello. From the Collection of Major Darrell Smith [died 1953], Hanua, Germany. First two photographs were taken in Germany prior to 1950.
