Manner of Richard Wilson (British, 1713-1782), "River Landscape with Figures", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Well painted 19th century landscape painting depicting a wide vista, likely in the British highlands, with two men in coats and tophats at left in foreground resting on a cliffside overlooking a meandering river with sailboats, one figure painting with a brush and board in plein air and the other leaning back on an elbow on a red blanket, at left of composition an imposing cliff flanking the waterway, the scene backed with rolling green hills spotted with trees under a clouded and calm blue sky. Framed approximately 26.375" x 35.25". Unframed 21.75" x 30.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
