Philip Roeber (American, 1913-1997) Untitled [Abstract] Signed and dated "Roeber 59" in pencil and "Phil Roeber" in pen on the reverse, with a label from the Provincetown Art Association, 1981, affixed to the stretcher. Mixed media (tissue, newsprint, and oil) on canvas, 32 1/2 x 28 in., framed. Condition: Mildew to the reverse. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Simpson and Nancy Simpson, Circular Cellar Shop, Provincetown, Massachusetts. Exhibitions: Phil Roeber: A Retrospective Exhibition, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, July 3 to 19, 1981 (on loan from James Henry Simpson). Note: Two copies of the Provincetown Art Association exhibition pamphlet accompany the lot.
