Japanese Export Meiji Period Carved and Inlaid Ivory Monkey-form Tussie-mussie, c. 1875-1880, cone-form flower holder inlaid with a group of rampaging monkeys with staffs, the holder in the form of a standing monkey in elaborate garb and issuing the cone from his mouth, with yellow gold chain, ht. 6 1/4 in. Some darkening and minor discoloration in spots; monkey with losses to two fingers and the thumb, some lines to body; the chain tests out between 14kt and 18kt.
