Signed "O'Brian" l.r., stamped by the "New Yorker Magazine Editorial Department" and copyrighted 1966 on the reverse. Pen, ink, wash, and whiting on illustration board, 22 x 15 in., framed. Condition: Affixed with masking tape to window mat. Provenance: The estate of Elizabeth A. Straus, New York and Maine. N.B. The full-page New Yorker cartoon is affixed to the frame backing, along with another illustration of the work. The artist's first name is not known, although one auction reference listed him as John O'Brian, possibly a mistaken reference to the New Yorker cartoonist John O'Brien.
