Export Embroidered Fan in Gilt-lacquer Box, China, 19th/20th century, the cream-colored silk leaf embroidered on one side with ducks swimming in a pond with lotus flowers, and birds flying amidst plum blossoms, reverse with egrets beneath bamboo and peonies, the ivory guardsticks each carved with a lower panel of flowers and a top panel depicting figures at leisure in gardens, with uncarved ivory sticks, lg. 12 1/4, the cover of the lacquer box painted with scholars and attendants at leisure in a courtyard, the interior silk lining painted with auspicious flowers, birds, and fruit, 2 1/2 x 14 3/4 x 3 1/4 in.
