Italian, Late 18th/Early 19th century. Maranetti (possibly Antonio Marinetti , c.1710-1796), "Faust & Marguerite", oil on canvas, signed lower left "Maranetti Roma". Figural painting depicting the young and beautiful Marguerite at right wearing black dress and small purse, slightly leaning forward over a pew and holding small red leather covered Bible or book as a condemned winged Faust stands over her shoulder at left. Marguerite's piety is reflected by her rosary wrapped around her wrist and draped on the wooden pew. People visible in pew in front of her within church interior. Framed approximately 53.5" x 45.5". Unframed approximately 40.25" x 32". _x000D_
