After Claude Lorrain (French, 1600-1682) Rest on the Flight to Egypt Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 16 7/8 x 23 3/8 in. (43.0 x 59.5 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, abrasion with possible puncture and with paint loss to surface u.l. quadrant, scattered abrasions and losses, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. The original painting on which this copy is based is found in the collection of the Hermitage Museum and measures 157 x 116 cm. This copy may be 17th century, when versions of reduced size were sometimes made of Claude's paintings.
