Toleware Wastebasket, England, 19th century, oval shape with a bail handle, painted with a panoramic landscape scene with a house, river, and figures, raised on a slightly flared foot painted with a band of gold leaves against a black background, ht. 11 3/8, lg. 12 1/2, dp. 9 1/2 in. Abrasions consistent with usage throughout resulting in scattered loss to painted scene and painted areas along the rim and foot. Craquelure. Foot rim and handle bent slightly in some areas. Rust and surface grime to interior/ foot.
