Minton Majolica Garden Seat, England, c. 1869, the waisted circular form decorated with pierced geometric patterns, and abstract floral and strapwork motifs on a turquoise ground, all on three rounded feet, impressed mark, ht. 17 1/2 in. Literature: Design illustrated in Minton's 1880 catalogue as seen in Dictionary of Minton , by Paul Atterbury and Maureen Batkin, p. 330. Light glaze wear to top surface, one and half inch hairline crack to center scrollwork, half inch surface chip to lower side, restorations to or surrounding two feet, scattered surface flakes.
