Rare Sublime Harmony Quator Longue-Marche Musical Box by Paillard, with five cylinders playing six airs each, nickel-plated movement with massive double-springs driving 5 3/4-inch intermediate wheel, butterfly-wing governor, speed moderator, safety-check via projections on the great wheel, engraved tune indicator and tune selector, in matched figured-walnut case with rosewood borders, tune-sheet and ormolu carrying handles, on walnut table with reeded cylinder drawer, turned legs and stretcher, wd. 47 in., cylinders 19 x 3 1/4 in. , (nine replaced teeth in one comb). Note: Paillard's term "Quator" is not usually found on their interchangeable, nor indeed on their ongue marche, movements. The four cylinders listed on the tune-sheet include airs from the patriotic Star Spangled Banner to the popular and the operatic. Cylinders three and four are predominantly operatic (including the Maritana overture played in one revolution, and airs from Aida, Barbier, Rigoletto, La Norma and others. The fifth cylinder is not listed, but was probably added soon after the original production.
