Matthews, Portugal St., London, the lid containing amputation tenon saw, Butcher's bow saw, Hey saw and a finger saw, all with cross-hatched ebony handles, the upper tray with five Liston and other knives, hooks, probes, scalpels and other instruments, the lower section with two trephines and hatched ebony handle, elevator, bullet or stone extractor, and bone and other forceps, in brass-banded mahogany case with fitted velvet-lined interior, side catches and brass escutcheon engraved H.E.F. Cross, R.N. , wd. 17 in., (missing instruments and later additions, space in lower section for an additional tray).
