British School, 19th century. "Afternoon Picnic", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Large painting depicting a vast landscape centered by a young male and female couple at center in foreground leaning against a pair of trees and enjoying the peaceful afternoon, their coats strewn across a rock at their side, with a stream to right flanked by a ridge on its right which leads toward the sea in background, the sea overlooked by a stone castle set upon an immense mountain at left, with another pair of figures fishing from the stream at the base of this mountain, the whole scene filled with lush greenery and trees. Framed approximately 40" x 52", unframed approximately 28" x 42".
