Charles and Ray Eames ESU 100-C Birch plywood, zinc-plated steel, laminate, rubber Herman Miller, Zeeland, Michigan, c. 1950 Natural top over struts and single shelf in black laminate, imperfections commensurate with age, ht. 20 1/2, wd. 24, dp. 16 in. Provenance: From the Estate of Jill Mitchell (Virginia Mills), a student at Cranbrook in the 1940s, where she won awards for her work in woven and printed textile design. During her time there she became a lifelong friend of Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen, later working for both.
