Assembled Six-piece Victorian Gilded Sterling Silver Tea Service, London, each with pear-form body with engraved, chased, and applied rustic scenes of peasants merrymaking in the style of Teniers, raised on four figural feet, monogrammed "S. A.B.S." to underside; four 1888-89, maker's mark rubbed: a kettle, teapot, open sugar, and creamer; and two 1900-01, maker's mark "GI:", a smaller creamer and waste bowl; together with associated sugar tongs, London, 1875-76, lacking maker's mark, and Howard & Co. kettle stand with burner; approx. 96.4 total troy oz. Provenance: By family decent from Sophia Augusta Brown Sherman (1867-1947), daughter of John Carter Brown II (1797-1874) and Sophia Augusta Browne Brown (1825-1909) and the wife of William Watts Sherman (1842-1912), to the present owner.
