THIS LOT IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE comprising: a) oil on paper, signed lower right b) 1968, mixed media, signed lower left c) 1962, mixed media, signed lower right each measures approximately 45 x 60 cm ( 17 7/8 x 23 1/2 in. ) Vera Ippolitovna Aralova was a Russian painter, graphic artist, and set and fashion designer. Aralova was married to Lloyd Patterson, an African-American immigrant, who was an actor and speaker on All-Union radio in Moscow. During the Great Patriotic War, she was evacuated to Siberia. In 1930, Aralova made set designs for the Mossovet Theater, Moscow Art Theatre and Drama Theater. In 1948, she began working as an artist-couturier at the Union House of Models, and she was awarded the gold medal at the International competition of clothes in Warsaw (1956). Aralova became a member of the Union of artists of the USSR, and actively participated in solo and group exhibitions. She was awarded the title of honored artist of the RSFSR.
