La Madonna della SediaAttributed to Bovet, Fleurier, made for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and painted on enamel, eight-day going watch with special escapement. Two-body, the back cover with a very finely painted Virgin and Child, after the 1514 painting “La Madonna della Sedia” by Raphael, with translucent blue enamel over sunburst engine-turning, the band with a repeated pattern of white enamel flowers with red enamel centers separated by translucent blue enamel, pendant and bow decorated with matching enamel. White enamel, Roman numerals. Blued steel hands. Large, 55.8 mm, gilded, fully engraved in the manner of G. Vuillemin, typical Bovet “hinese” calibre, six-wheel train for 8-day duration, ruby duplex escapement, three-arm balance with blued steel wedged weights, blued steel balance spring, all visible arbors jeweled.Diam. 63 mm.
