Pierre de Montrnain a Lyon, circa 1660. Very fine and rare, large silver watch with triple calendar. Double body, bassine with split bezel and loosering pendant profusely engraved with summer flowers, the winding hole with shutter. Small eccentric gilt brass Roman chapter ring for hours, applied below the Arabic gilt brass date ring on the silver dial plate engraved with a floral decoration matching that of the case, apertures for clays of the week and months with their number of days. Blue steel hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain two-arm blued steel balance without spring, irregular florally pierced and engraved balance cock secured by a screw, the matching ratchet wheel set-up cock with blued steel wheel and click spring. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 55 mm. Notes Pierre de Montmain (1632-1669) Son of Pierre de Montmain, used to work on rue de Flandre, in Lyon. In 1655, he married Anne Guiger.
