Käthe Kollwitz (German, 1867-1945) Two Portraits: Selbstbildnis, 1919, possibly from the edition of 175 (Knesebeck, 143Ib); and Nachdenkende Frau , 1920, possibly from the edition printed by Richter (Knesebeck, 161c). Both signed "Käthe Kollwitz" in pencil l.r. ( Selbstbildnis very faintly or possibly erased). Lithographs on paper, image sizes to 13 1/2 x 11 1/2 in. (34.2 x 29.2 cm), framed. Condition: Toning near edges, minor handling creases. Provenance: Frau Sotheby's New York, Sale 7888, Lot 192, May 3, 2003; Selbstbildnis Sotheby's New York, Sale 7787, Lot 128, May 4, 2002, then both to a private Massachusetts collection.
