Ferdinand Burgdorff (American, 1881-1975) Sunset / A California Coastal View with Cypress Signed and dated "Ferdinand Burgdorff 1919" l. l., inscribed "F. Burgdorff/ Garzoli Collection" on the backing, and with a partial label from Newport Harbor Art Museum, Newport Beach, California, affixed to the backing. Watercolor and graphite on paper, sight size 11 3/4 x 11 3/4 in. (29.8 x 29.8 cm), in a period frame (under glass). Condition: Not examined out of frame. Provenance: John H. Garzoli, San Francisco; private New England collection. The inside of the glass shows soiling, but this does not effect the image. Although it has not been removed from its frame, there are no additional visible issues to report.
