John B. Guerrazzi, publisher (Italian, Early 19th Century) Two Views of Naval Engagements in the Tripolitan War. Titles: The attack made on Tripoli on the 3d August 1804 by the American Squadron under Commodore Edward Preble... and The burning of the American Fregate [sic] the Philadelphia in the harbor of Tripoli happily executed by the valiant Cap. Decatur to whom this plate is respectfully dedicated by his Obedient Servant John B. Guerrazzi/sold in Leghorn 1805. Identified in inscriptions below images, engravings with hand-coloring on laid paper, sight sizes 12 1/4 x 15 3/4, 11 3/4 x 15 3/4 in., respectively, in matching later molded giltwood frames. Condition: Toning, repairs on margins, some slightly into image, not examined out of frames.
