Anson Dickinson (American, 1779-1852) Miniature Portrait of Raphael Dickinson , 1831. Unsigned. Watercolor, 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 in. (sight), in a mitred and molded mahogany frame. Condition: Good. Note: Mona Dearborn, an authority on Dickinson's work, wrote in a 1993 letter about this miniaiture: "there is no question about the identity of the sitter or the artist." Ms. Dearborn explains also that this miniature was probably painted in New Haven on August 20, 1831.
